Coomera Marine Precinct
Coomera is where the Gold Coast fixes boats. The marine precinct on the Coomera River packs in Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard, The Boat Works and more than a hundred marine businesses, from engineers and riggers to painters, sailmakers and superyacht crews. If a boat is coming out of the water for a refit, a survey or a new coat of antifoul, there's a good chance it's going to Coomera, and a good chance a delivery skipper is bringing it. Getting there is a long, slow, 6-knot run up the river from the Broadwater, so plan on a rising tide and some patience.
- Bridge clearances upstream of the precinct. The figures are read from MSQ map text and not yet matched to each crossing on the map image.

Getting here
Come up the Coomera River from the Broadwater past Paradise Point, Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove (see those pages for the mouths and recent changes to the marks). Above Sanctuary Cove, the river runs on past Santa Barbara and Foxwell Island to the precinct. MSQ's map labels the area "Gold Coast Marine Precinct" with Gold Coast City Marina, The Boat Works and a buoy mooring area along the river.
- Depth. ⚠ Operator's claim, not independently checked. Gold Coast City Marina's website says the Coomera River is dredged to 3.5 m at LAT. MSQ's older soundings snapshot (2017) gives a median of only about 1.6 m across the whole map area, which includes shallow side creeks. Use the chart and the tide.
- ⚠ May 2026: aids in the Coomera River were reported off station after high flows. We found no cancellation.
- ⚠ September 2026: a lit yellow special mark (Fl Y 2.5s) marks a partially sunken vessel in the river by the precinct. Check whether it's still there.
- ⚠ September 2024: MSQ warned of Coomera Connector construction works on the river near Saltwater Creek, close to the precinct. That was a temporary notice. Check the current notices before you go.
Bridges. ⚠ Unverified. Upstream of the precinct, MSQ's 2023 map prints road and rail bridge clearances of roughly 6.4 to 7.5 m above HAT, with lower crossings on Saltwater Creek. We haven't matched each figure to its bridge yet. If you're heading upriver, check every crossing on the chart.
Anchoring
MSQ's map shades a buoy mooring area along the river by the precinct. Anchoring on the Coomera River and its tributaries is limited to 24 hours in any 30 days (Waterways Management Regulation), and you can't anchor within 30 m of a jetty, pontoon or a boat moored to one, which rules out most of the river frontage here. Most boats coming to Coomera go straight onto a marina berth or the hardstand.

Facilities
Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (d'Albora Marinas), on Waterway Drive:
- Berths up to 75 m, with a superyacht basin.
- 50-tonne and 300-tonne travelifts, for beams up to 10 m. ⚠ Source conflict. Other pages on the same site say 270 t, and its lifting agreement says 250 t. Confirm the lift for your boat when you book.
- About 50,000 m² of hardstand, courtesy cars and a crew zone.
- More than 90 marine businesses on site, according to the marina.
The Boat Works is the precinct's other big yard. Its tenant list includes shipwrights, riggers, marine electricians, painters and antifoul specialists.
Riverside Marine Services shares the Waterway Drive address and is mapped in OpenStreetMap as a boatyard.
Trades. Live directory listings and tenant lists (16 October 2026) put well over a hundred marine businesses in and around the precinct. To name a few: Sail Inc (sail loft and rigging), JCMS Rigging, Southern Seas Marine and Gineico (chandlery), Sweep Marine Services (cleaning, tank and fuel services), Benson and Brown Marine Electrics, C & C Shipwrights, Watson Marine Engineering (engineering and propellers) and Oceanic Design & Survey (surveyors). A listing tells you a business exists, not that it'll take your job, so ring around.
TAFE Queensland has a Coomera Marine campus nearby, and there's a café and a bar-restaurant in the precinct.
Rescue. MSQ's 2023 map prints VMR Southport and Coast Guard Southport for this area. ⚠ As printed in 2023. Confirm current channels and hours.
Fuel, water and pump-out
- Fuel. ⚠ Dated (2022). Gold Coast City Marina's 2022 corporate profile advertises 24-hour fuel and bunkering, and MSQ's 2023 enlargement marks fuel at the marina. We haven't confirmed current hours or fuel types, so ring ahead. Sanctuary Cove's 24/7 card fuel wharf is downriver.
- Pump-out. Not confirmed at the precinct. Sanctuary Cove offers pump-out by booking via Sweep Marine.
- Water. Not confirmed for passing boats.
Boat ramps
From the Queensland Government (TMR) list, all managed by City of Gold Coast:
- Oxenford, Old Pacific Highway: two lanes, not tide-limited.
- Helensvale, Condamine Crescent: one lane, not tide-limited.
- Upper Coomera, Gawler Place: one lane, toilets, not tide-limited (well upriver).
MSQ's 2023 enlargement also shows a boat ramp and boat lift within the marina precinct.
Rules in brief
- Speed. 6 knots on the Coomera River. From Hope Island to Foxwell Island it's 6 knots for boats 8 m and over; from Foxwell Island to the rail bridge it's 6 knots for all boats; near Oxenford it's 6 knots (some parts for boats 8 m and over, some for all). Check the MSQ schedule maps for exact limits.
- Anchoring. 24 hours in any 30 days on the river and its tributaries.
- No freestyling or wave jumping in the Coomera River.
- Seaplanes. MSQ's map warns that seaplanes use part of the lower river around Hope Island.

Addresses are from OpenStreetMap where it has one; where it doesn't, we show the name and distance only. ⚠ As at 18 October 2026: we haven't confirmed each place is still trading, so check before you walk.
