Privacy policy

Hartshorne Marine is run by Garry Hartshorne, a sole trader (ABN 58 957 375 066), from Kalkie, Queensland. This policy explains how we handle your personal information on hartshornemarine.com. As a small business we may not be covered by the Privacy Act 1988, but we follow the Australian Privacy Principles anyway.

What we collect

  • Quote requests. When you use our Get a Quote form we collect your name, company, role, email, phone and preferred contact method, plus details of the boat, its safety gear and equipment, the delivery route and dates, insurance notes, and any photos you upload.

  • "Notify me" sign-ups. If you sign up for news about one of our apps, we collect your email address only.

  • Direct contact. If you email, phone or message us (including on WhatsApp), we keep what you send us.

  • Website data. Like most websites, ours automatically records basic technical details such as your browser, device, approximate location and the pages you visit. See "Cookies" below.

Why we collect it

We use quote details to prepare your quote, plan the delivery and keep in touch about it. We use "Notify me" emails to send you app launch news and occasional Hartshorne Marine updates and mail-outs. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. We use website data to keep the site working and secure and to see, in total, how it's used.

Who we share it with

We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it when we need to:

  • Squarespace hosts our website and processes form submissions, sign-ups and site statistics.

  • Google delivers quote requests to our Gmail inbox and runs reCAPTCHA on the quote form to block spam. reCAPTCHA is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

  • Marinas, insurers and crew involved in your delivery. Some marinas and insurers require vessel, owner or crew details for a delivery. We share only what they need for that delivery, and we tell the client.

  • Anyone the law requires us to tell.

These providers may store data overseas, including in the United States. We use well-known providers with strong security practices.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies set by Squarespace so that pages and forms work, and to count visits. Our web fonts come from Adobe Fonts. We don't use advertising or tracking pixels. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly.

Storage and security

Your information is held in our password-protected Squarespace and Google accounts. We keep quote details and business records for as long as the ATO requires (generally 5 years), then delete them. We keep "Notify me" emails until you unsubscribe. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Just contact us and we'll reply within 30 days.
