Victoria Point is the jumping-off spot for Coochiemudlo Island, "Coochie" to everyone, a small island a short hop offshore with a ferry, a jetty and a café. Just around the corner at Thornlands, Eprapah Creek leads into Redland City Marina, a working yard with a sea lift, a travelift and hardstand where you can live aboard. That makes this stretch handy for a quick haul-out on the bay side. The catch is the creek: MSQ has been moving its marks around since mid-2025 as the bottom shifts.

Getting here

From Cleveland, come south inside the banks. From the Bay Islands, come up past Macleay Island. MSQ's open data has 130 aids across this stretch of the Redlands shore. MSQ's map warns that shoaling may occur, and like all the Southern Moreton Bay maps it says depth contours mostly haven't been re-surveyed since the 2011 and 2013 floods. The 2017 soundings give a median of under 2 m on the Victoria Point side.

Eprapah Creek (into Redland City Marina) has been re-marked repeatedly:

  • ⚠ June–July 2025: beacons were renumbered and new ones laid. A buoy marked an underwater obstruction at the entrance off Point Halloran.
  • ⚠ May 2026: the No. 8 port beacon was temporarily withdrawn.
  • ⚠ June 2026: the green No. 7 off Point Halloran was moved, and then MSQ repositioned both the port and starboard beacons in the creek "to accommodate changes in the seabed".

Use the latest notice and the marina's own advice for the entrance, not an old chart. Redland City Marina publishes an Eprapah Creek entrance tide table.

Other notices:

  • ⚠ September 2026: a yellow buoy (Fl Y 2.5s) marks a submerged vessel just off Coochiemudlo Island.
  • ⚠ May 2026: the Pelican Banks 4 port beacon, east of Coochiemudlo, was destroyed.

Anchoring and moorings

The marine park has mooring areas at Victoria Point (MGA27), Coochiemudlo Island (MGA26), Point Halloran (MGA25), Eprapah Creek (MGA24), Dalpura Bay (MGA28), Thompson Point (MGA30), and North-east and East Macleay Island (MGA29, MGA31). MSQ's maps also show anchorages, including Blaksley Anchorage to the east, but our sources don't give depths, holding or shelter.

Facilities

  • Redland City Marina (Thornlands, on Eprapah Creek): a slipway taking boats up to 30 tonnes and 65 ft, a 30-tonne sea lift, a 20-tonne travelift and a 9-tonne forklift. There's hardstand, including liveaboard, power and water in the refit sheds, and marine retail and chandlery on site. The slipway works five days a week (marina website, October 2026).
  • Redlands Coast Marina is next door. We haven't confirmed its details.
  • Trades nearby (directory listings): Stradbroke Yachts, Aluminium Marine and Shipwright Mobile around the marina; Redlands Marine (chandlery) and Marine Care Queensland in Victoria Point and Redland Bay. Coochie Boat Hire is on the island.

Rescue. VMR Victoria Point is based by the Colburn Avenue ramp. MSQ's 2016 map prints weekend and public-holiday hours. ⚠ As printed in 2016. Confirm current hours and channels.

Fuel, water and pump-out

  • Fuel. Redland City Marina lists a fuelling facility in its marina rules. We haven't confirmed hours or fuel types, so ring ahead. The nearest confirmed 24/7 fuel is at Raby Bay, Cleveland (see that page).
  • Pump-out and water. Not confirmed for passing boats.

Boat ramps

From the Queensland Government (TMR) list, all managed by Redland City Council:

  • Victoria Point, Colburn Avenue (North): two lanes, pontoon, floating walkway, toilets, not tide-limited.
  • Victoria Point, Masters Avenue: two lanes, pontoon, toilets, not tide-limited, with a barge ramp alongside.
  • Coochiemudlo, Tageruba Street: one lane, pontoon, toilets, not tide-limited. The island also has a public jetty at Elizabeth Street.
  • Macleay Island, Dalpura Street (Dalpura Bay): one lane, toilets, tide-limited.

Rules in brief

  • Marine park. Most of this water is habitat protection zone. Cox Bank (MNP24) and Price Anchorage (MNP26) are green zones, and Price Anchorage is also a go-slow area.
  • Ferries and barges run from Victoria Point to Coochiemudlo. Keep clear of the jetty and barge ramp.
