Cleveland & Raby Bay
Cleveland is the Redlands' main town on the water. Cleveland Point, with its old lighthouse, pokes out into the bay. Toondah Harbour, just south, is where the North Stradbroke Island ferries leave from, and behind it all the Raby Bay canals hide a 75-berth marina with fuel. For a cruising boat it's a good provisioning stop, with a big supermarket a short walk from the marina and the train to Brisbane next door. Big ships' sailing directions even give it a proper anchorage with good holding off the point.
- Raby Bay Marina fuel ("Fuel available 24/7", diesel and premium unleaded), berth count and depths come from a search-result snippet; we couldn't load the live marina page to confirm them.

- 1Cleveland, Shore St ramp · 1 lane, tide-limited (TMR).

Getting here
From the north (Manly or the Brisbane River), come down the western side of the bay. NGA puts Cleveland Point Light about 10 miles south of Mud Island. From Peel Island and Dunwich, it's straight across. Banks off this shore move, so mind the depth. MSQ's 2017 soundings give a median under 2 m on the Cleveland map, and the 2016 maps say depth contours mostly haven't been re-surveyed since the 2011 and 2013 floods.
Recent notices:
- ⚠ August 2025: Toondah 13, a green beacon in the Toondah Harbour channel, was destroyed and left leaning south.
- ⚠ September–December 2025: yellow buoys were laid in Raby Bay, one marking an underwater obstruction and one on an anchored pontoon off the Raby Bay boat ramp.
- ⚠ September 2026: bed-levelling work was proposed at Toondah Harbour.
These were temporary notices when we checked. Some may have been cleared.
Anchoring
NGA Pub. 127 (written for big ships) gives two anchorages off Cleveland:
- in 9.1 to 11 m, with Cleveland Point bearing 242° at 1 mile and the south end of Peel Island bearing 110°;
- in not less than 5.5 m, with good holding, about 0.7 mile NE of Cleveland Point.
⚠ Dated. Check the depths on a current chart. Don't anchor off Toondah Harbour: the MSQ map says so, and the ferries need the room. The marine park has a mooring area in Raby Bay (MGA22). MSQ's map names Blaksley Anchorage further south-east.

Facilities
- Raby Bay Marina (in the Raby Bay canals): 75 floating berths. It's said to be dredged to at least 4 m, with depths outside the marina and canals down to 2.1 m LAT. Water and power at all berths, and bathrooms for tenants and guests. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30. ⚠ Unconfirmed. These details come from a search-result snippet for the marina, which is run alongside Peter Hansen Yacht Brokers. Check before you rely on them.
- Cleveland Yacht Club is near the point.
- Toondah Harbour is the ferry terminal for North Stradbroke Island, with its own MSQ enlargement. It's a works area under the marine park plan.
- Trades. Directory listings in Cleveland include Sea Raider (sales and charter) and Bay & Islands Tours. For haul-out, see Redland City Marina, a few miles south (our Victoria Point page).
Rescue. VMR Raby Bay is based by the William Street ramps. MSQ's 2021 Moreton Bay maps print seven-day hours, but the 2016 maps show weekends and public holidays only. ⚠ Sources disagree. Confirm current hours and channels.
Fuel, water and pump-out
- Fuel. Raby Bay Marina: diesel (standard and high-flow) and premium unleaded, "Fuel available 24/7". ⚠ Unconfirmed (search snippet only). Ring ahead.
- Pump-out. Not confirmed.
- Water. At berths for marina customers.
Boat ramps
From the Queensland Government (TMR) list, all managed by Redland City Council:
- Cleveland, William Street: two ramps side by side, three lanes and two lanes, both with pontoons, floating walkways and toilets, not tide-limited.
- Cleveland, Emmet Street (Toondah Harbour): two lanes, toilets, not tide-limited.
- Cleveland, Shore Street (by the point): one lane, toilets, tide-limited.
Rules in brief
- Toondah Harbour. No anchoring off the harbour. Keep clear of the ferries.
- Marine park. Cleveland Point is a small general use zone, surrounded by habitat protection zone. Cox Bank (MNP24) is a green zone. Check the zoning maps.
- Canals. 6 knots in canals, boat harbours and marinas unless signed otherwise (MSQ general limit).
